First two blurbs!
Earlier this month I received my first two blurbs for Kanazawa. It’s always surreal to hear that authors you admire have read your work and liked it enough to endorse it. This is what happened recently when Robert Whiting (author of Tokyo Junkie ) and Roger Pulvers (author of The Unmaking of an American) wrote the following about my novel:
"Atmospheric...and shibui [elegant/refined]. A quietly captivating tale of life and art in Kanazawa. Slowly sinks its hooks in and doesn't let go."
--Robert Whiting
"The grand old city of Kanazawa, its lush historic environs and rich cultural legacy form the setting of this compelling narrative. Kanazawa weaves an intriguing story of a Japanese family worthy of the best of Japanese literature.
--Roger Pulvers
I'm not sure how much blurbs mean for sales, but for most authors they mean much more than only that. I’m grateful for Robert’s and Roger’s time and kindness. I’ve written blurbs for three authors myself, but writing them is somehow very different from being offered them by others.
